Re-imagining Austen’s Beloved Characters

Portrait of a Jane Austen silhouette, representing Melissa Anne, author of Pride and Prejudice variations
“The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid.”
— Jane Austen

What started as a Pride and Prejudice obsession became a writing career.

Hi there! I’m Melissa Anne, an accidental author who fell down the Jane Austen rabbit hole and never wanted to leave. After devouring hundreds of Pride and Prejudice variations, I thought I could try this too—and somehow ended up publishing seven novels and a novella in just one year!

From my home in Georgia (by way of East Tennessee), I craft Regency romances that stay true to Austen’s era, with one exception—my novel Finding Love at Loch Ness, where American grad student Elizabeth Bennet falls for Scottish William Darcy against the misty backdrop of Scotland.

When I’m not reimagining Darcy and Elizabeth’s love story, I’m juggling life with my husband and three children, and likely thinking about my next Austen-inspired adventure.

Behind the Scenes

A Glimpse Into My Writing Life

Pride and Prejudice book covered in blue roses representative of Melissa Anne's brand colors

Every tale begins with a question: “What if?” My days are spent researching period details and sipping tea, lost in the pleasure of reimagining Austen’s beloved world. I craft each page as an invitation to return to Pemberley’s halls or wander once more through Hertfordshire’s lanes.

Inspiration often arrives in the gentlest of moments. Sometimes it’s a stroll outdoors, a cherished line from a classic, or a conversation with a fellow admirer that leads me down unexpected paths. Here, I weave together history and heart, always striving to create stories that feel both timeless and personal.
